Apache China Apache

DMI provided the project team to Apache China for the planning and operation of the Zhao Dong Development offshore Bohai Bay. DMI supplied the Project Manager, engineering support staff, rig supervision, drilling rig supervision, and drilling fluids supervision. DMI prepared the plans, contracted and managed all the required services for Apache, and supervised all drilling and completion related activities.

Apache China set aggressive goals for well cost, drilling and completion performance, time schedule, and well productivity during four separate campaigns. Over 70 wells were drilled and completed during these campaigns, with winter breaks for maintenance and rig upgrades plus additional project planning.

DMI has delivered and exceeded expectations for each campaign. The original 25 well program was finished in 10 months versus the projected 15 month program. Fourteen wells were drilled during the second campaign within the budget for only 10 wells. Difficult geologic targets were drilled during the third and fourth campaigns into areas previously considered non accessible. Challenging completion techniques have been implemented that have resulted in zero sand production to date. Well deliverability has consistently exceeded goals, with several wells initially producing over 5000 BOPD.

And this was all achieved with a Chinese drilling rig and staff that required extensive supervision for safety awareness and efficient operations. The DMI managed project has ranked in the top three offshore development projects worldwide.

Due to the highly successful development drilling program that achieved best in class performance results, a further development is planned for adding 50 slots to the existing platform and setting several 24 slot conductor pod platforms. Apache China decided to sell the asset as it was in a non-core area, but had become more than a simple project based on these results. Apache China successfully sold the asset to Roc Oil, another client of DMI’s in the middle of 2006.

ROC Oil Apache

DMI initially assisted Roc Oil, an Australian independent operator, on an exploration project offshore in the Beibu Gulf of Southern China. The Roc Oil program made a successful discovery. This was instrumental in Roc’s decision to purchase Apache China, another project managed by DMI.

Roc was impressed with the performance and results provided by the DMI Bohai Bay drilling team. Roc has continued to utilize DMI’s services from 2006 through present. Roc is also focused on expanding opportunities in China, and DMI strives to assist Roc Oil in this effort.

During 2009, DMI supplied a drilling superintendent and two supervisors to assist Aztech Well Construction in their performance of subsea workovers and drilling in the Bass Strait. Again, these operation were very successful and the new well was drilled 40% under budget time compared to 6 wells previously drilled in the field.

Murphy Murphy

DMI provided a 7 man project team to Murphy Malaysia for the planning and operation of the West Patricia Development/Exploration offshore Sarawak, Malaysia. DMI supplied the Project Manager, the drilling engineer, four rotational rig supervisors, and drilling fluids supervision. DMI prepared the plans, managed all the required services for Murphy, and supervised all drilling and completion related activities plus jacket installation.

The West Patricia Field was the smallest field development offshore Malaysia, and therefore required cost effective facilities and wells. A total of 9 wells were projected for the first phase plus an additional jacket installation. The project though the scope of the project was increased during the drilling program.

Due to the success of the appraisal drilling both in terms of reduced well costs and increased reserves, 25 additional wells were drilled in 2004. In addition, DMI supplied drilling project management for Murphy’s Peninsular Malaysia exploration program in 2004-2005. DMI also continued to provide a team for exploration and appraisal drilling until the end of 2006. This DMI managed project was ranked number one in the world as far as drilling performance in the world as ranked by the Rushmore project data.

GFI Oil & Gas CorporationGFI

DMI provided a 9 man project team to GFI Oil and Gas Corp. in Thailand for the planning and operation of the Bualuang Oil Development in the Gulf of Thailand. DMI supplied the Project Manager, drilling engineer, four rotational rig supervisors, drilling fluids supervision, completion engineering and logistics coordination. DMI prepared the plans, managed all the required services for GFI, and supervised all drilling and completion related activities including gravel packing and installing ESP’s.

The Bualuang oil development was a marginal field development offshore Thailand and therefore required cost effective drilling and completion designs. A total of 6 wells at a budget of US$38 million were projected for the first phase. The project had to be completed within a 60 day rig schedule window. The project was 10% under budget and completed within the required 60 days.

These were the first wells in Thailand to be gravel packed and the first wells to be gravel packed utilizing a solids free synthetic oil base carrying fluid in SE Asia. Formation skin factor was estimated to be less than 1 after the gravel packs.

Repsol YPF Repsol YPF

DMI provided a 5 man project team to Repsol-YPF Malaysia for the planning and operation of a two well exploration operation on the SK 301 block, offshore Sarawak, Malaysia. DMI supplied the Project Manager and four rotational rig supervisors. DMI prepared the plans, contracted and managed all the required services for Repsol-YPF, and supervised all drilling and completion related activities.

The SK 301 block was a difficult challenge due to logistics and very little offset data. DMI delivered the two wells at US$2 million under budget.

Forest Oil Forest Oil

DMI provided drilling project management, engineering, and 4 rotational drilling supervisors for the Forest South Africa Ibhubesi Block 2A appraisal program. DMI provided the conceptual drilling plans and the operational expertise to drill and test the wells.

Six appraisal wells were planned. DMI provided the entire project management for the original exploration campaign of 4 wells in 2001. The 2001 campaign established the lowest cost exploration operations in South Africa, so the well designs and plans were improved based on the lessons learned from the previous campaign experienced in South Africa and floating drilling operations.

Project: South Africa Ibhubesi

OXY

OXYDMI provided drilling project management, engineering, and 4 rotational drilling supervisors for Oxy – Yemen exploration/development/appraisal program. DMI provided the conceptual drilling plans and the operational expertise, procurement, and logistic expertise to drill and test the wells.

Multiple wells involving abnormal pressure to 2800m were planned, drilled, and completed 20% under Oxy’s original budget.
